What Cheer? plays a collaborative set with Dan Deacon and his ensemble, creating a 30+ piece band. Each band will also play a separate set.

Take Thursday, May 14 off from work, or at least take a long lunchbreak to see us play with Dan Deacon at RISD’s Market Square.

So that you can be as crazy as the guy in the lower right hand corner of this picture was at last years Golden Fest:

That’s right, What Cheer? invades New York again.

On Saturday, January 17, we play the Zlatne Uste Golden Fest at the Good Shepherd School at 620 Isham St. in Manhattan’s Inwood Neighborhood. This Festival is an unreasonably fun marathon of music from the Balkans and beyond. Young and old dance and party for roughly 10 hours. Everyone should experience this at least once in their lifetime.

Then, on Sunday, January 18, we join the Stagger Back Brass Band for their CD Release Party at Union Pool in Brooklyn.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, the HONK festival in Boston on the weekend of Oct 11 & 12 is the best (and only) way in this whole dern country to see TONS of brass bands running amok in the streets. And it’s all free. And of course, yours truly are playing.

See the “shows” section of our website for details. And if you can’t make it to Boston, Monday Oct 13 will be the mini-version of the festival in Providence, with AS220 and the Black Rep literally overflowing with brass bands.
