Infinite thanks to all who made our birthday so much fun. Extra special thanks to Veveritse, Jacob the Terrible, Arcing, AS220’s staff, and our record label, Anchor Brain, who got the new records in on time.
Now, the other news you’ve been waiting for: Raffle Winners!
Special congrats to Dylan from Providence who won the big prize! We also awarded ten consolation prizes, and we’ll be sending them to places as far away as Little Rock and Oakland.
Meanwhile, our store is now way easier to navigate, and it’s got some serious new goodies…. Did we mention our vinyl LP is out now on Anchor Brain Records with two bonus tracks and new artwork by William Schaff? To celebrate, Tiny Showcase is offering a limited edition What Cheer? Brigade print (also by William Schaff). The LP and print both come with an easy-to-use download code, creating one irresistibly sticky ball of art, music and mayhem.
Finally, our Europe tour dates are up now, and we just added an NYC show before we head across the pond!
Our 5 Year B-Day Party at AS220 Fri May 21, featuring us, you, and these marvelous talents: Veveritse (Brooklyn) Arcing (PVD) Jacob the Terrible (Worcester/PVD)
If you’re not convinced yet, entertain your ear with these three audio announcements:
Last weekend The New York Times unleashed one of their writers on our show apparently with instructions to make convoluted juxtapositions and backhanded compliments — or were they convivial positions and forehanded contradictions? We report, you decide. In any case, a good time was had by all, thanks Javelin!
“…What Cheer? Brigade, a punkish, face-painted brass band with a dozen or so members, who alternated between the stage and the dance floor. They were thrillingly competent, with undimmable energy. All together, it was an explosion of good cheer from the greater Providence, R.I., area, serious in its frivolity.” (full article)
We interrupt these announcements regarding our five year anniversary to bring you a different announcement; we are playing shows in New York and Philly on April 22 and April 23.
